molpigs, The Molecular Programming Interest Group, is an international group of researchers interested in topics such as molecular programming, DNA computing, and other aspects of biomolecular nanotechnology. We host regular podcasts, keep you up to date on goings-on in our newsletter, and run a slack for discussion and fostering collaboration.
Hello and welcome back to the molpigs newsletter! Feel free to hang out on the molpigs slack! We are also on twitter!
All the past podcasts and tutorials can be found here. Enjoy!

1. Support Lego DNA!
Lego DNA is a scientifically accurate Lego model of the DNA structure, along with a historically accurate interactive lab, with 5 Lego scientist figures: Rosalind Franklin, Maurice Wilkins, Franklin’s PhD student Raymond Gosling, Francis Crick and James Watson. Lego DNA aims to promote science to young kids and adults, and honor Rosalind Franklin and her legacy. It currently has around 3,000 supporters on the Lego Ideas website. If it reaches 10,000 supporters, the Lego company will consider Lego DNA as a real, official Lego set, that can hopefully achieve the aims mentioned above. So, around 7,000 supporters left! Supporting is super easy, quick and totally free. To support, click support on the webpage, create a free account (just so Lego knows that someone doesn’t support the same project twice), and click support.
There is a short (2.5 min) YouTube video trailer which showcases details and diagrams in a fun and amusing manner, including cute gifs of the scientists working around the lab.

2. ISNSCE bulletin board!
The ISNSCE (International Society for Nanoscale Science, Computation, and Engineering) bulletin board is now available primary for conference announcements and job advertisements and promoting communications among researchers interested in controlling matter with chemical information.
3. Advertisements for Build-a-Cell!

SynCell2024 Please save the date for the SynCell2024, The International Conference on the Engineering of Synthetic Cells and Organelles: the meeting will take place April 17 to 19 2024 in Toulouse, France. More info will follow soon.
-
Build-a-Cell seminar series We’re running weekly online seminar series. Most talks are recorded and available online. All info and seminar schedule can be found here.
4. Job Advertisements!
Dr. Thomas Ouldridge has a postdoctoral position available involving building novel DNA strand displacement networks that implement molecular templating, synthetic analogs of transcription and translation. The position would be particularly suitable for people with a background in experimental nucleic acid nanotechnology, but anyone with a background doing experimental chemistry or molecular biology is encouraged to apply. Funding initially runs until Sept 2025. For more information please refer to the official listing here. Any questions, please contact Thomas Ouldridge.
5. Recruiting: A podcast audio editor!
Are you skilled with audio editing software, enjoy the molpigs podcast, and want to help make it even better? Then please get in touch!
