molpigs, The Molecular Programming Interest Group, is an international group of researchers interested in topics such as molecular programming, DNA computing, and other aspects of biomolecular nanotechnology. We host regular podcasts, keep you up to date on goings-on in our newsletter, and run a slack for discussion and fostering collaboration.
Hello and welcome back to the molpigs newsletter! Feel free to hang out on the molpigs slack! We are also on twitter!

1. Next week: molpigs reading group “Revisiting the Classics”
For those of you who attended DNA28, you may remember the special panel session ‘A tribute to Ned Seeman’. We heard how Ned’s paper influenced other researchers, stories of Ned’s mentorship style, research/career experience and how his persistence and stubbornness led to the foundational work in DNA nanotechnology, and the value of passing on all these to next generation students/young researchers. Inspired by the discussion from the great panel session, we plan to host a reading group to revisit the classics starting from some of Ned Seeman’s papers in the early days.
The reading group “revisiting the classics” will start next week! We will read seven Ned Seeman’s papers over seven weeks. The first paper is “N.C. Seeman, Nucleic Acid Junctions and Lattices. Journal of Theoretical Biology 99, 237-247 (1982).” Please come with thoughts/questions/ideas/whatever in mind, and we will have a gathering and discussion session!
We will have 2 groups with one on Tuesday (Oct 11th, GMT 7pm) and the other on Thursday (Oct 13th, GMT 2pm). To register, please get in touch using the contact link on our website.
Note that seats will be limited so please sign up as soon as you can! If you later realize that you cannot attend after registering, we kindly ask that please cancel the registration so that the spot can be released for others. Meeting information (e.g. zoom links) will be sent later to attendees.
2. Recruiting: A podcast audio editor!
Are you skilled with audio editing software, enjoy the molpigs podcast, and want to help make it even better? Then please get in touch!
3. Job Advertisements!
